We are a family of four. My husband and I have 7 year old twins, a son and a daughter. Paisley, the mother (Goldendoodle) is our pet. She stays in our house, sleeps with my daughter and is a member of our family. We are not a kennel and do not mass produce puppies. Paisley is 2 years old and has had one litter thus far. She is a very good mother and very attentive to her puppies. She is also great about letting our kids handle her babies.
Paisley had her first litter on November 26, 2006. I suspected that she would have them that night and I was going to put her in the heated garage in the homemade "kennel" that we had built when I went to bed. Well...I fell asleep on the couch only to wake up to the sound of puppies. I ran back to my daughters room and found that Paisley had began having puppies on my daughters bed! Luckily my daughter wasn't in it! We did get her moved out into the garage, but the mess was already made!
Our puppies are handled from the time they are born by our family. My daughter has pushed them around in her stroller and played house with them. My son has put them in the back of his John Deere Gator (battery operated ride on toy) and given them rides. They play with my children in the snow and have went ice skating with us. We alternate bringing in puppies in the house to play with our kids. They each bring one in to play with when they get home from school. It is during this time that we work on starting potty training with them.
Once the puppies were born and we had handled them for weeks, we became quickly attached. Dogs can enrich the lives of people greatly, they deserve to feel the same love that they give. Our goal is to place the puppies in good homes that offer lots of love and attention. I am happy to say that I am confident that all of the puppies placed thus far are receiving lots of love and will have a happy life. I have made some new friends with the owners in the process.
